Johnson SmithOn many occasions, as a normal part of their duties, members of the U.D.R. undertake guard duties on key points and installations which are situated either within or on the edge of urban areas. They also frequently establish check points and road blocks on the margin of urban areas. When travelling on duty either for training or when going on duty members of the regiment also may frequently have to pass through urban areas. On all these occasions they are subject to military discipline and appropriate military command.
