asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is their intention to introduce legislation, implementing, in whole or in part, the recommendations of the Hunter Commission on Salmon Fishings in Scotland; and, if so, when they expect to be in a position to publish a White Paper, setting forth their tentative proposals for such legislation.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (BARONESS TWEEDSMUIR OF BELHELVIE)

Proposals are being prepared for legislation on Scottish salmon and freshwater fisheries. They take account of the Hunter Report and observations received, and they will be made known in due course.
