§ 52. Mr. David Steelasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will, in co-operation with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, take steps to arrest wages of separated husbands abroad who are required to maintain their children, in order to ensure both full payment for such maintenance and a reduction in the burden on the taxpayer.
§ Mr. CarlisleMy right hon. Friend doubts whether this would be practicable, but he or my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland would be willing to consider the matter further if the hon. Member would give details of the sort of case he has in mind.
