Other measures are under examination with a view to their possible introduction. These improvements apply not only to jointly manned stations but also to others occupied solely by the R.U.C.

Ian Paisleyasked the Minister of State for Defence under what circumstances the Army at Andersonstown Royal Ulster Constabulary Station, Belfast, came under attack from Irish Republican Army terrorists in broad daylight on the morning of Thursday, 17th June; how many shots were fired by the terrorists; whether the fire was returned; how the terrorists were able to escape; what searches were made; and what arrests resulted.
§ Mr. G. Johnson SmithAbout 15 rounds were fired from a car, by persons yet to be identified, at a sentry outside Andersonstown R.U.C. station. Two shots were returned but the assailants were able to escape in the car, searches for which were immediately instituted although so far no arrests have been made.
