210WJune, 1969, there were 44,500 employees (employed and unemployed) in the area covered by the Coatbridge and Airdrie Employment Exchanges. Rates of unemployment can be calculated only for the whole of the North Lanarkshire travel-to-work area and at 10th May the number of males registered as unemployed formed 54 per cent. of all employees (male and female) in the area. Rates cannot be calculated for Coatbridge and Airdrie alone.
