§ 62. Mr. Walter Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will give an assurance that work will continue on the RB211 engine beyond 8th August and that further grant aid will be available should this prove necessary.
§ Mr. John DaviesThe parties principally concerned with the RB211/TriStar situation agreed that since the announced date for the beginning of the summer congressional recess is 6th August, it would be reasonable to expect a decision on the United States Administration's proposal to Congress by 8th August. If it appears that this timetable cannot be met, it will be necessary for Rolls-Royce and Lockheed and also the United States and British Governments to consult about the situation.
