§ Mr. G. Johnson SmithAn officer and a senior N.C.O. were shot and injured by gunmen on the evening of 8th June when shots were fired at a group of soldiers and civilians standing near an Army post in Belfast. Four gunmen are thought to have taken part and to have fired some 50 shots from sub-machine guns. Fire was not returned because of the danger of hitting some children. The surrounding area was immediately searched. No arrests were made at the time.
