HC Deb 14 June 1971 vol 819 cc28-9W
Mr. Wilkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received on the need to prescribe acrylamide poisoning as an industrial disease; and whether he will make a statement.

Sir K. Joseph

I have accepted recommendations made to me by the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council that aprima facie case for prescription exists sufficient to warrant formal investigation of the question. I have accordingly referred to the Council for consideration and advice the question whether acrylamide poisoning should be prescribed under Section 56 of the National Insurance (Industrial Injuries) Act, 1965, and, if so, for what occupations.
