HC Deb 10 June 1971 vol 818 c367W
Mr. Temple

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can now state on what date he proposes that the Decimal Currency Board should be wound up.

Mr. Higgins

The Decimal Currency Board considers that its remaining tasks can be completed within the next few months and has formally recommended that arrangements should be made to wind up the Board on 30th September.

We have accepted this recommendation, and, accordingly, an Order has been laid before both Houses of Parliament today under Section 6 of the Decimal Currency Act, 1967, providing for winding-up and dissolution of the Board on 30th September, 1971.
