§ Mr. Crowderasked the Attorney-General what provisions there are for the granting of legal aid from the Divisional Court to the House of Lords; and if he will make a statement.
§ The Attorney-GeneralSection 1(2) of, and paragraph 1(a) of the First Schedule to, the Legal Aid and Advice Act, 1949, make legal aid available in proceedings in the House of Lords in relation, inter alia, to appeals from the Divisional Court. These provisions were brought into force by Commencement Orders Nos. 9 and 12 dated 10th November, 1960, and 1st December, 1969, respectively.
