Pardoe85. Mr. asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he is taking to reduce the lapse of time between the receipt by his Department of planning appeals and the announcement of the decision.
§ Mr. Graham PageThe transfer in November last of further classes of appeal for decision by inspectors is already reducing the period taken to decide such cases. I am examining other ways to reduce the time taken within the Department to process an appeal. The most significant time savings can however be realised only with the co-operation of both the appellant and the local planning authority during the processes of preliminary documentation and in the fixing of inquiry arrangements.
