§ Mr. Laurance Reedasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether it is his intention to wait for the findings and recommendations of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution about coastal pollution before announcing any new system of controls over the disposal 62W of wastes in estuaries and the territorial sea.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerThe Government are undertaking their own studies of all aspects of marine pollution generally but are also looking forward to the particular contribution which the Royal Commission's inquiry into estuarine and coastal pollution will make. As regards controls, the Government are considering how effect might be given to any new international agreement which might result from discusions now in progress. I am also considering the recommendations on the prevention of estuarine and coastal pollution contained in the Report of the Working Party on Sewage Disposal.
