HL Deb 26 July 1971 vol 323 c175WA
LORD MERRIVALE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they consider it satisfactory that air mail between the United Kingdom and Gibraltar takes up to five days to reach its destination and surface mail up to several weeks; and further, since arrangements for the despatch of mail for overseas are the responsibility of the Post Office, and the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications does not consider it appropriate to intervene under section 11(2) of the Post Office Act 1969 what recourse there is for users of the service who wish it to be improved.

LORD DENHAM

Her Majesty's Government would advise any dissatisfied user of the overseas postal services to put his problem direct to the Post Office, which is always ready to investigate specific complaints.
