§ Mr. Spenceasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why the pension book is delivered to a pensioner after and not on or before the day on which retirement age is reached.
§ Mr. DeanA pensioner is normally able to obtain his first order book from the Post Office or the local social security office one week before the date on which the first payment is due. I know of one case in Sheffield where there has been delay in issuing the order book. I am looking into this and will write to my hon. Friend as soon as my inquiries are completed.
