§ 32. Mr. David Jamesasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, following representations from hon. Members on both sides of the House, he has reached a decision on the suggestion that Greenwich Mean Time should be restored only for a three to four month period ; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. CarlisleThe effect of the decision taken by this House on 2nd December, 1970, is that the period of Greenwich Mean Time will run from the end of October until the middle of March, as it did from 1961 to 1967. While there is power to shorten this period by Order in Council, my right hon. Friend has no present intention of using it.
