§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry to what extent he estimates the implementation of the Rome Treaty, if Great Britain enters the Common Market, in respect of the abolition by progressive stages on the restrictions of freedom of establishment, including the rights to engage in self-employed business by nationals of a member State in the territory of another member State, will assist or harm self-employed persons in Great Britain ; and how it is proposed that this will operate in practice.
§ Mr. NobleSince there are at present very few restrictions based on nationality346W which apply to persons seeking to engage in self-employed business in the United Kingdom, I would not expect their removal after our entry into the E.E.C. to have any significant effect on the prospects for self-employed persons in this country.
