HL Deb 13 July 1971 vol 322 cc339-40WA
LORD MER RIVALE

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Why air mail, between the United Kingdom and Gibraltar, takes up to five days to reach its destination; and surface mail up to several weeks; and whether they are prepared to utilise their powers under Section 11(2) of the Post Office Act 1969 to remedy the defect.

LORD DENHAM

Arrangements for the despatch of mail for overseas are the responsibility of the Post Office, and it would not be appropriate for Her Majesty's Government to intervene.

House adjourned at seventeen minutes before eleven o'clock.
