asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many prisoners are currently serving determinate sentences of 10 to 12 years, 12 to 15 years, 15 to 18 years, and over 18 years.

In England and Wales during the years 1965–70, 13 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment, or to detention during Her Majesty's Pleasure, for murder in the course of robbery or theft were released on licence. The length of time in years served in each case was as follows:

sentence prisoners convicted of murder were released on licence, five of whom—including the two mentioned above—committed offences of serious violence, and were recalled to prison.
