§ Mr. Sproatasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement about Government support for the industrial promotion work of the Scottish Council, Development and Industry.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellI am discussing with the Council improved arrangements for attracting new industry to Scotland, particularly from Europe. I have offered to make available up to £20,000 in each of the three years from April, 1971, for this purpose, on the understanding that the Council will also provide substantial funds for the same purpose; and in addition I intend to give substantial backing to this work through my own Department. The arrangements will be designed to secure the co-operation of other Scottish promotional bodies.
