§ Mr. Peter WalkerThe Government attach much importance to the protection of what is best in our architectural heritage. We will pursue an energetic administration of the law relating to listed buildings and conservation areas, the continuance of the pilot projects proposed for four historic towns, and we will review the need for additional powers to prevent the unnecessary demolition of buildings of merit.
