§ Mr. James Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, in view of the increase in unemployment in North Lanarkshire, what action he has taken, or proposes to take to reduce this figure to the national average or below by inducing industry to go to the area.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantI am aware of the situation in North Lanarkshire. The area will benefit from the measures announced by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer on 27th October, 1970, and the Department will do all that it can to encourage the creation of additional employment opportunities there.
