§ Mr. ChannonIt is estimated that there are about 3.4 million private tenancies in Great Britatin, of which about 2.9 million are unfurnished. Of the unfurnished tenancies about 1.4 million are rent-controlled. The 1967 House Condition Survey estimated that 44 per cent. of private tenancies had all the standard amenities, but gave no separate figures for different types of privately rented dwellings.
