§ 33. Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to enable local authorities to have the earliest possible warning of drug taking among the 16 to 18-year-old age group.
§ Mr. SharplesMy right hon. Friend is not persuaded that further statutory powers are needed in addition to those already proposed in the Bill now before Parliament for obtaining information likely to be helpful to those concerned with social and other problems arising from the misuse of drugs.
§ 34. Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what evidence he has of amphetamine taking by 15 to 18-year-olds who have left school.
§ Mr. SharplesReports from the police and other sources indicate that the mis-312W use of amphetamines by young people presents a problem. This was the subject of a report by the Advisory Committee on Drug Dependence published last year.
