HL Deb 19 January 1971 vol 314 cc479-80WA
THE EARL OF MANSFIELD

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in order to avoid a repetition of the grave inconvenience caused to Parliament by the Palace of Westminster being "blacked out" owing to an industrial dispute, they will arrange forthwith for the installation of a permanent generator sufficiently powerful to provide adequate illumination not only for both Chambers, but at least for all the more important rooms and offices of the Palace.

EARL JELLICOE

My right honourable friend has this matter under urgent review. He is hoping to make arrangements which will obviate the need for the provision of a permanent stand-by generator.
