HC Deb 19 January 1971 vol 809 c251W
Mr. Roger White

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what effect the unification of the administration of the National Health Service will have upon the organisation of his Department.

Sir K. Joseph

I have arranged for the examination of the consequences for the organisation and management of the Department of Health and Social Security which will follow from the Government's decision to unify the administration of the National Health Service and from the transfer to the Department of the Children's work from the Home Office.

Dame Isabel Graham-Bryce, the Chairman of the Oxford Regional Hospital Board and Mr. R. R. Thornton, the Town Clerk of Leicester, have kindly agreed to assist the Department in this review.

After discussions with a number of consultancy firms, I have invited McKinsey and Company Inc. to join a team which also includes staff drawn from the Department and the Civil Service Department.
