§ Mr. Juddasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement on the appeal to Her Majesty's Government by Chief Rekayi of the Tangwena Tribe in Southern Rhodesia for support in his efforts to prevent the illegal Rhodesian régime from removing the tribe from its homeland.
§ Mr. Anthony RoyleAccording to a recent Press report Chief Rekayi has written to the Editor of The Times but we have received no direct appeal from him. Her Majesty's Government deplore any action which further undermines racial co-operation in Southern Rhodesia. However, as the House knows, we have no power on the ground in Southern Rhodesia and are not in a position to intervene on behalf of individuals there.
