§ Mr. Barry Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales how many local education authorities in Wales propose to levy a daily charge on children who bring sandwiches to school to eat at lunchtime; what guidance he has given on this matter; and what guidance he proposes to give to local education authorities, in view of the growing practice by children of sandwich eating at lunchtime.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasI am not aware of proposals by any local education authority in Wales to levy such a charge. With my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science, I shall be considering with the local authority associations whether advice can usefully be given on this matter.
