§ Mr. Bishopasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make arrangements for provision to be made in the next year's estimates for an increase in the grant to the British Council in order to extend English language teaching abroad.
§ Mr. Anthony RoyleIt is intended, subject to parliamentary approval, that in 1971–72 the funds made available for the Aid to Commonwealth English scheme should be increased from the present level of £336,000 to £432,000 and that the number of overseas posts under this scheme should be raised over the next three years from 60 to 80.
