§ 143. Mr. Juddasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the fact that under the Government's new policy for local government finance the allocation to Portsmouth City Council for capital schemes is £2,405,000 as against estimated requirements in the City of £4,500,000 of which £2,405,000 is already committed, what representations he has received from the City Council for an increased allocation; what reply he has sent; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Graham PageRepresentatives of the council recently discussed this matter with officials of my Department. I am now considering whether an increase in the allocation already notified is needed to meet essential capital expenditure in 1971–72.
