§ Mr. Bishopasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he is satisfied that there is no discrimination against women 348W of corruption made by Mr. Patrick Coleton, a former employee of the London Borough of Ealing, concerning officials of the council; whether he has seen a report of the internal inquiry conducted by officers of the council and the district auditor following the allegations; whether he will now appoint a Government inquiry further to investigate the allegations; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Graham PageIt is for the local authority to take such action as it thinks fit when allegations are made against its officers. In this case the council not only conducted an internal inquiry but also requested the district auditor to carry out an investigation. He concluded that the allegations of financial irregularity were unfounded.
