§ 59. Dame Irene Wardasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will issue a White Paper showing the progress made by individual local authorities in implementing the provisions of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act, 1970, and indicating the local authorities which have included in their estimates special financial provisions for meeting the special expenditure involved.
§ Sir K. JosephAs some Sections of the Act have been in force less than three months and two have still to be brought into force, I am sure it would be premature to try to survey or report on progress at present. But I intend from time to time, in my Department's annual report and in other ways, to indicate what progress is being made with development of the social services for the disabled. I am already satisfied from discussions with local authority representatives last year about rate support grant that they are planning for an acceptable rate of growth in expenditure.
