§ Mr. Gordon CampbellIn 1968–69, the average costs per pupil to public funds of operating education authority schools in Scotland were as follows:

In addition, expenditure per pupil (all schools) on transport, hostels, school meals and milk and the school health service was £18.
The average net current cost per student in 1968–69 in colleges of education in Scotland was £301; I understand that no comparable figure is available for the Scottish universities. The average award per student under the Students' Allowances Scheme was £353 for colleges of education and £350 for universities, of which £63 and £75 respectively covered the cost of fees.
