§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Minister of State for Defence in what circumstances, and to whom, the General Officer Commanding, Northern Ireland, must apply for authority before searching houses and buildings in relation to his security duties.
§ Mr. Ian GilmourThe General Officer Commanding has authority to search houses when he has good reason to believe that arms can be found, and also to search houses from which firing has taken place or where persons who have been using firearms may be present. Otherwise authority is sought from the Ministry of Defence.
