§ Mr. Braineasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will confirm that there will be no additional financial burden placed on downstream local authorities as a result of the raising of their river flood defences because of higher tide levels caused by any closure 98W of the barrier which is to be erected to protect London.
§ Mr. Anthony StodartThis matter is at present under discusion between the Essex and Kent River Authorities and the Greater London Council. I have recently written to my hon. Friend and I will of course keep him informed when the local bodies concerned reach their conclusions.
