HC Deb 08 February 1971 vol 811 cc39-40W
119. Mr. Robert Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what proposals he has to provide a new hospital for the Redditch area, with particular reference to the need for better facilities to cope with casualties arising from industrial accidents in the area.

Mr. Alison

The Birmingham Regional Hospital Board plans to build a new district general hospital at Redditch. Meanwhile Smallwood Hospital provides a service for minor accidents and emergencies, and 10 additional beds were provided there in 1969 for the increasing needs of the area. There are district general hospital facilities at Bromsgrove, eight miles away, and major accident centres in Birmingham.
