asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether Commonwealth citizens and citizens of Eire who now register as citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies have to take the oath of allegiance.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will give the words used in the oath of allegiance administered to citizens who become naturalised citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies.

The current form of the oath, specified in the First Schedule to the British Nationality Act, 1948, isI, A. B, swear by Almighty God that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second Her Heirs and Successors according to law".
