asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what contacts his Department has had with the Government of the Republic of Ireland about the position of Northern Ireland during the past six months; and whether those contacts included any discussions about a change in the constitutional position of Northern Ireland.

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, in view of Her Majesty's Government's policy that there should be no change in the status of Northern Ireland as part of the United Kingdom without the consent of the people of Northern Ireland, what forms of consent he recognises other than that stipulated in the Ireland Act, 1949 which states that no change can be made without the consent of the Parliament of Northern Ireland.
