HC Deb 08 February 1971 vol 811 c76W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he has taken to ensure that, in the event of another work to rule by electricity supply workers, hospitals will not be cut off from power supplies.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

Hospitals are regarded as priority users of electricity but it may not be practicable to maintain continuity of supply at all times in the event of industrial action. Arrangements for emergency supplies, which are particularly directed to averting danger to life through power failure from whatever cause, are regularly examined and are now being reviewed again.
