HC Deb 08 February 1971 vol 811 cc9-10W
65. Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will make a further statement regarding persons appointed by him to bodies whom he regards as capable of representing consumer interests, in the light of the information sent to him by the hon. Member for Willesden West.

Sir J. Eden

In the reply to the hon. Member of 18th January, reference was made only to bodies appointed for the sole purpose of consulting the interests of the consumer. The Hearing Aid Council, about which the hon. Member subsequently reminded my hon. Friend, was not mentioned because although three of its 12 members were appointed to represent the interests of persons with impaired hearing, its terms of reference go far wider than that.—[Vol. 809, c. 513–4.]
