HC Deb 08 February 1971 vol 811 cc6-7W
52. Mr. J. H. Osborn

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will now take steps to review the airport requirements of Great Britain as a whole, as distinct from the specific requirements of the London area, bearing in mind the need to promote short takeoff and landing and vertical take-off and landing facilities for feeder line services covering the provinces, as well as adequate facilities for continental and inter-continental Jumbo and supersonic flights.

Mr. Noble

The studies of passenger demand in certain areas and of possible V/STOL operations are already in hand; I do not propose to initiate additional studies at present. Existing aerodromes. outside the South-East should be capable of providing adequate facilities to meet the foreseeable demand.
