HC Deb 04 February 1971 vol 810 cc428-9W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Minister of State for Defence how many members of the security forces in Northern Ireland have been prosecuted, or are being prosecuted, by the Northern Ireland Government; and what assistance is provided by the Army towards their defence.

Mr. Ian Gilmour

Since late 1969, 216 members of the Regular Armed Forces have been prosecuted in civil courts for traffic and other offences in Northern Ireland: another case is pending. Five of the offences were committed whilst on duty. Legal assistance is provided when appropriate.
