HC Deb 04 February 1971 vol 810 c418W
50. Mr. Iremonger

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will make a statement about Government policy for the acquisition and management of nature reserves and the conservation of wildlife generally.

Mrs. Thatcher

The Natural Environment Research Council, of which the Nature Conservancy is a part, establishes and manages as National Nature Reserves representative habitats in Great Britain for the purposes of study, research and preservation of their distinctive fauna, flora and physical character. The council also provides advice on measures required to secure the conservation of wildlife and natural features in the countryside generally.
