§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take action to ensure that in his proposed Bill on immigration the control of numbers and types of immigrants will be on such a basis as not to distinguish between the colour of such immigrants irrespective of whether they come from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, or any of the African Commonwealth countries and with regard to foreign countries, especially from the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
§ Mr. MaudlingOur immigration control does not discriminate on the basis of colour, and the Government will not propose that it should.
