§ Mr. Onslowasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how he accounts for the increase of 120 in the staff of his Department in the period 1st July to 1st November, 1970; and what increase or decrease he now anticipates in the period up to 30th June, 1971.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellRecruitment was necessary to fill vacancies existing at 1st July and to meet the requirements of projects authorised by the previous Government. The level of staff for the period up to 30th June, 1971, has not yet been decided, but the numbers at 1st April, 1971, will be held at least 84 fewer than authorised by the previous administration.
