asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what plans exist to provide further facilities for private patients in pay beds at the North Staffordshire hospitals.

Mr. Alison

The Birmingham Regional Hospital Board has no plans to increase the number of pay beds at these hospitals but it is proposed to use trust funds to modernise the existing facilities for private patients at the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary.
