§ 41. Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what fraction of the cost of providing houses in the public sector comes from local authority sources, how much is provided by ratepayers, and what derives from Government sources.
§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithIn 1969–70 more than 35 per cent. of local authority expenditure on housing was met from the rates and a little under 25 per cent. from Government contributions. In the same year more than 40 per cent. of expenditure on housing by new town development corporations and the Scottish Special Housing Association was met from Government contributions.
