§ Mr. Gordon CampbellThis Committee represented to me that members of the Irvine Development Corporation should be elected and not selected. I have replied explaining that the arrangements for appointments have been in force since Parliament first passed new towns legislation in 1946; that they provide for consultation with local authorities before appointments are made; and that I have no plans at present to introduce amending legislation.
