asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will recommend the appointment of a Royal Commission to study the future reorganisation of the magistrates' courts on the same basis as the Beeching Commission dealt with the organisation of the higher courts.

No. The Government are considering this matter on the basis of extensive consultations which have already taken place.
