§ Mr. SharplesUnder the Immigration Act, 1971, anyone other than a Commonwealth citizen or citizen of the Irish Republic ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom when the Act comes into force will be liable to deportation on the recommendation of a court while he remains subject to immigration control. My right hon. Friend has no proposals for further amendment of the law. If the hon. Member has some particular problem in mind, perhaps he would write to me about it.
