asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they would list the members of the four Working Parties, the setting up of which was announced by the Secretary of State for the Environment on February 9, and which are advising him now to prepare for the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment to be held in Stockholm in June, 1972; and to state when each of these four Working Parties first met.

It is impossible to give exact dates as to the activities of the Working Parties, for, as the Secretary of State originally made clear, all four Chairmen were free to choose any person to assist them in their work and members were added to their teams their activities developed. For all of the Working Parties some members of their team have been actively working with the Chairman over the past six months. All the Working Parties have completed their team for the purpose of collating and concluding on the mass of evidence that has been obtained. These Working Parties are now meeting regularly in order to prepare the Reports that will be published. I believe no country in the world has carried out such a programme of consultation in preparation for the Stockholm Conference.
